All About Us

Colored Flower Dark

I want to help teach people how to take care of their own bodies/minds and spirit.

How I do that here is by giving massages so you AND I can feel what parts of your body are tight, loose, painful, tender, hot, cold, weak, strong...

I use Ayurvedic knowledge/techniques as well as Swedish style massage to help train your body to be as healthy as it can be.

I don’t think that Ayurveda or any single modality is the end all be all of medicines though. I believe that world has all the knowledge we need, the hard part is finding the types of knowledge that work for each individual.

We want to help support you on your own health journey!

Viveda began as a way to give people Ayurvedic treatments, within a year I was able to turn it into a full time business that had great potential for growth.

I was thrilled to see an amazing growth in Ayurvedic interest from people here in the west in the past 10+ years.

During this time I also created a line of spices that are all made using the knowledge of Ayurveda. This means I have the right spice blend for you no matter who you are or what your body needs.

During covid I was ready for the next step, I decided to properly learn more about a western style of medicine. I chose Swedish massage, so I (Sebastian) went to school and became and RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) from 2021-2023.

Turns out Ayurveda and Swedish massage blend even better than expected.

Ayurveda is a more holistic and general well being approach, Swedish massage is a more specific soft tissue approach.
This means that they don’t step on each others toes at all!

I am super excited to continue to blend these modalities (and add more) as time goes on. I am continuing to expand at all times.

I am currently making my own oils so I can have 100% trust in the products that we use for our treatments.

Sebastian Owner of Viveda

Hi there, I am Sebastian Peralta, I am the owner and therapist here at Viveda.
Let me tell you about my life and how I got here.

I grew up in an alternative lifestyle home, my mother was a painter and my father a photographer when I was born. As life progressed my mother became a spiritual teacher so she could help people learn and grow, and my father took over the family business and became a businessman in the Canadian language industry.

While growing up my friends went to church or had a family gathering every Sunday morning, but me and my brother would go to children's yoga instead. This was when Ayurveda started to appear in my life, because I had to start taking Ayurvedic medicine, doing breath exercises and even getting regular swedish massages at the age of 10 years old. As a child I hated every moment of it.

After high school I was given the opportunity to go do my level one Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in New Mexico. When I returned I got a job at a yoga studio as a receptionist, during this time I also did some training for Yin Yoga, Children's Yoga and Thai Massage. I decided not to become only a yoga teacher but also something more.

That lead me to see a school in India that teaches foreigners about Ayurveda, and it was on the beach so I decided to continue my schooling a little further from home. I soon learned about Ayurvedic treatments, consultations and how it works behind the scenes of an Ayurvedic school/clinic. I was able to do this by not only going to school but also actually receiving the treatments, talking to Ayurvedic doctors and even going to local Ayurvedic hospitals to talk to patients and even give my own attempts at a (unofficial) diagnosis.

I then founded Viveda and continue to grow the business and myself together.

During covid I decided to become and RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) and have been incorporating that knowledge since early 2023.

I am exhausted from all the learning but so hungry for more to come :)

Ayurveda?

Translated from Sanskrit ‘Ayu’ means life and ‘Veda’ means science. Therefore Ayurveda means the “science of life” and the more you learn about it the more you realize just how true that is.

Ayurveda is one of the oldest form of medicines, it is thousands of years old,  it is not only being used still, but actually growing significantly during these modern times.

Ayurveda is all about living in harmony & balance with the world around us.

Here at Viveda I call Ayurveda simply complicated, because at its core its very simple. It's all about the knowledge that everything in the world are made up of the 5 elements; Air, Earth, Water, Fire and Ether (Space). We just have to keep them balanced within ourselves.

Going further Ayurveda knows that for all creatures that are alive we can use those 5 elements to create three distinctive body types or a Dosha as they are called. Those three are Vata (relates to Air and Ether), Kapha (relates to Water and Earth) as well as Pita (relates to Fire with some Water).

So at its core it is a very simple way of looking at the world, but it can quickly become very complicated because of all the variables in our busy busy lives.

Ayurveda is here to help manage and balance all of these variables that we inevitably run into on a regular basis.

This could be as simple as putting a cold compress on your forehead after being in the hot sun all day, or as complex as doing a daily practice because of the ongoing stress that life brings.

Ayurveda is a preventive medicine, which means that our aim is to be proactive when it comes to our health. While it is not always possible to predict future illnesses of course, we can manage anything that comes up if we are already well balanced and are good at staying in state of homeostasis (balance).
